Abstract

Examination of flower buds and flowers of 3 different groundnut cultivars in controlled environment disclosed that flower expansion occurs at the onset of the light period. Pollen liberation may already occur 7-8 h before flower expansion, but even then the anthers may not have dehisced in some flowers. It was calculated that pollen tubes grow at a rate of about 4 mm/h.-R.B. (Abstract retrieved from CAB Abstracts by CABI’s permission)
