Abstract

On a red-yellow podzolic soil, poor in Fe and of pH 4.3, NO3 fertilizers produced higher yields than did NHi fertilizers and also greater mineral uptake. On a red latosol rich in Fe and of pH 6.3 NH4-N (especially in the presence of lime) produced higher rice production and mineral uptake than NO3 did.
