Abstract

A mathematical treatise based on the assumption that cultivation affects the distribution of heat in depth of the soil which is considered to consist of two homogeneous layers of different thermal properties. The effects of cultivation on soil temperature at different seasons, risks of night frost, energy used in evaporation and transpiration, and the heat flux into soil and air are discussed.
