Abstract

Prisms & plates occurring in organic soils were correlated with a deep groundwater table associated with the vicinity of a brook draining the area, sufficient thickness of the organic layer to form an impermeable reduced peat horizon preventing seepage-water from rising in the profile, or Fe coatings on the peds promoting high permeability of the oxidized peat.
