Abstract

Nutrient use efficiency with special reference to the soil/plant system, soil fertility theory relating to fertilizers, plant nutrition, soil properties and root ecology and aspects of quantitative root ecology are considered and an approach to modelling the relation of root ecology to soil fertility theory is outlined.
