The Grass Snake has become a seperate species Due to a new publication (Kindler et al., 2017), the scientific name of indigenous Grass Snakes should be adapted. Previously known as Natrix natrix helvetica, this subspecies has been elevated to the species level now: Natrix helvetica. The publication is explained and the consequences for naming, listing and, importantly, legislation are indicated. Dutch names are proposed for the new subspecies.
